Kia EV9 Concept previews the brand’s next-generation all-electric family SUV
KIA South Korean car maker has debuted SUV the latest EV9 concept at 2021 Los Angeles Auto Show. Heat on the heel of the Hyundai Seven Concept Twin platform – which is also aired recently at La Auto Show – the concept of EV9 forged the same line as the best KIA Telluride design in the design aspect. While the concept of Hyundai Seven is about Sportnis Premium (like seven Hyundai Palisade seats), EV9 KIA is about rough luxury.
“This concept identifies KIA’s deep understanding of our customers here in the US and the types of products and services that will help them lead this important and important era,” said Sean Yoon, President and CEO, Kia North America, Kia America.
Inspired by the design philosophy of “allied” KIA as EV6, the EV9 concept displays an upright, round fender, and angle folds to create a brave and confident attitude. The muscular proportion has a front clip of Tiger’s digital face which is updated with a slimmer LED LED LED cluster with six LED round lights that project light through perforation on both sides of the empty grille design.
Utilizing the modular Hyundai-Kia e-GMP platform with integrated electronic power and battery between the front and back axle, we expect EV9 to have a double electric motor and 77.4-kwh battery package. Kia hasn’t revealed the production number, but it says EV9 is good for up to 300 miles from driving distance. And if the battery becomes flat, E-GMP allows for fast charging up to 350 kW to refill juice from 10 percent to 80 percent in 30 minutes max.
The Kia EV9 concept displays a unique pop-up steering wheel, an ultra-wide infotainment display screen 27 inches, and three interior modes for seating positions. Internal settings are in ‘active’ mode when the vehicle moves, where all seats face forward. But in the ‘pause’ mode, the front seat rotates, and the second row seat becomes a table. Finally, there is a ‘Enjoy’ mode where the third row seat faces back, and TailGate opens passengers to enjoy the display (return).
